West Linn Partial Home Remodel

Custom Updates Throughout This Waterfront Home

These West Linn homeowners came to Lamont Bros. to remodel their home on the Wilammette Waterfront. Though luxurious and spacious when it was first built, this home had seen some outdated features that didn't quite meet the homeowner's lifestyle.

The most complicated part of this project was the primary bathroom. The original design of the bathroom featured a large walk-in shower, but no bathtub. The homeowners decided that they wanted a tub, but still wanted to have a large walk-in shower.

The solution was to demolish the old round shower and build a rectangular shower in its place. The new shower still offers plenty of room, but makes more efficient use of the space. That way, we were able to install a new freestanding tub that now serves as the centerpiece of the bathroom.

The home also had a large media room adjacent to the kitchen, which the homeowners rarely used and wanted to convert to a formal dining room. For this conversion, our team removed the glass wall

separating the media from the rest of the home, installed a herringbone-pattern tile on the floor, and added new light fixtures about the space.

We also converted the previous dining room, which sits near the entrance of the home, into a guest suite so the homeowners could better host visitors. The original dining room space was open to the rest of the home, so we framed in new interior walls and added a closet to complete the guest bedroom.

As part of the new guest suite, we also remodeled the adjacent half-bathroom. Because it did not have a shower or bathtub, house guests would previously have to use a different bathroom in the home for bathing. To solve this issue, our team enlarged the bathroom and added a tub-shower combo to make the guest residence totally self-sufficient.

In the end, this project allowed the homeowners to change individual spaces and features that helped the entire home function more cohesively for their needs.
